  • One AI policy option selected

  • Important: Submit textbook information before the start of the semester to support student success and affordability.
    • Include ISBNs and format options for all required materials
    • Submit to campus bookstore (Barnes and Noble) for course registration system
    • Federal requirement (HEOA): Textbook info must be available prior to course enrollment
    • Help students plan: Timely info enables rentals, used books, and digital formats
    • Indicate when no textbook is required or when using free/OER resources
    • Support equity: Transparency helps students on financial aid plan effectively

Why it matters: Timely textbook adoption improves academic outcomes, enhances student satisfaction and contributes to retention and graduation rates.

  • Review syllabus with students on first day
  • Explain your AI policy choice and rationale
  • Align assessments with learning objectives
  • Use clear, student-friendly language
  • Include contact information and office hours
  • Post syllabus to Blackboard before semester
  • Consider welcoming, inclusive tone

Double-numbered courses: Must specify different assignments for graduate students

Cross-listed courses: Descriptions must match across all listings

Graduate courses: May not use D or D- grades

Learning objectives: Must use approved action verbs

Participation vs. attendance: Use participation to capture engagement
