- Finalize syllabus content
- Ensure all required statements are included
- Select and include one of the three AI policy options
- Upload syllabus to Blackboard before first day of class
First Day of Classes
- Distribute syllabus to students during the first-class meeting
- Review key policies and expectations
- Discuss AI policy selection and its rationale
- Remind students of religious observance notification deadline
Early-Semester Progress Reports
- Track student non-attendance through Orange SUccess
- Indicate students who “Never Attended” by third week
- Comply with Title IV federal regulations
- System provides immediate email notifications to students
Academic/Financial Drop Deadline
- Last day for students to drop a class
- Students must notify instructors of religious observances by this date
- Grading option deadline (pass/fail or audit status)
- Deadline referenced in Faith Tradition Observances policy
- Note: Students may still withdraw after this date (WD grade on transcript)
Mid-Semester Progress Reports
- Provide feedback for all students in your classes
- Early warnings about students’ academic progress
- Helps advisors identify students who may be struggling
- System provides immediate email notifications to students
Last Day of Classes
- Final class meetings
- No final exams may be administered during last week of classes
Reading Days
- No exams or required class meetings may be scheduled
- Maximum study opportunity for students preparing for finals
Final Examinations
- Final exam period includes reading days
- Check MySlice for your specific exam schedule
- Exam times designed to reduce conflicts and comply with New York State contact hour requirements
- Changes only allowed in extraordinary circumstances with approvals
- Final grades due
- Keep syllabus updated in Blackboard
- Communicate any changes to students promptly
- Document all academic integrity concerns
- Use Orange SUccess for real-time student feedback
Important: If your syllabus changes during the semester, ensure students are notified and the updated version is posted to Blackboard.
Note: Students enrolled in “flex” classes (flexibly formatted classes) have different deadlines. Advise flex students to check MySlice for specific academic and financial drop deadlines for their class.
