Chief of Staff, Academic Affairs
Jerry Edmonds serves as the chief of staff for Academic Affairs. In this role, he represents the interests and priorities of the provost and academic affairs across the University. His portfolio includes oversight of Institutional Effectiveness, Institutional Research, Office of Retention and Student Success, and Project Advance.
Over his 34 years with Syracuse University, Edmonds has held several roles. He began his tenure as associate director, then director, of Project Advance, the University’s concurrent enrollment program. His leadership in Project Advance laid the groundwork for his appointment as assistant provost in 2014. In this role, Edmonds led University-wide initiatives in assessment, course feedback, and institutional effectiveness. As senior assistant provost, he continued to spearhead academic affairs initiatives across campus, fostering collaboration among faculty, staff, and administrators. Edmonds has also served as an adjunct instructor in the School of Education, where he taught courses on instructional design and development.
Edmonds is an active peer evaluator for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and has completed the Harvard Institute for Higher Education Management Development Program (MDP). His contributions to Syracuse University were recognized with the Chancellor’s Citation for outstanding contributions to the student experience and university initiatives. He holds a Ph.D. and MBA from Syracuse University, an M.A. from the University of Windsor, and a B.A. (Hons) from York University.
