2.13 Employment of International Faculty Members

All University employees are required to provide proof of identity and eligibility to be employed in the US. International faculty have the obligation to provide further documentation. Syracuse University may employ non-immigrants as faculty members, research associates, post-doctoral fellows, library or other specialists, technicians, or in other approved professions and occupations if the proper non-immigrant status is obtained. Determining eligibility and providing assistance with documentation will be handled by the Office of Human Resources.

An individual employee may not initiate an immigration application based on employment at Syracuse University, or hire a lawyer to do so, without permission from the University.

Any request for employment-based legal permanent resident status (LPR) must come from the school/college or department in consultation with the Office of Human Resources.
