2.21 Bases for Recommendations: Considerations

To be recommended, candidates for promotion are expected to have met prerequisites, as listed below. In addition, they must have achieved meritorious accomplishments commensurate with the rank to which they hope to be elevated.

The categories considered for evaluation of tenure-track and tenured faculty are teaching, creative professional accomplishment, and service. The categories considered for evaluation of teaching faculty are teaching and service. The category considered for evaluation of research faculty is research. Where appropriate, documentation should be submitted. Each category is important, but it is not assumed that recommendations for promotion will require equal merit in all.
