The University Senate is the academic governing body of the University. Senate actions on educational matters become final upon the concurrence of the Chancellor and the Board of Trustees. Faculty; students; professional librarians; exempt professional staff; non-exempt full-time and regular part-time secretarial, clerical, and technical staff; and administrators are represented in the Senate. Faculty members are elected from faculty of all ranks. Specified administrators are Senate members ex officio. Faculty representation is proportional to the size of the school or college.
